Since 1984 Montana Ballet Company has led the effort to establish and foster an active performing arts presence in the greater Bozeman area. MBC has presented seasons showcasing both original productions and international guest companies, including our annual Nutcracker in collaboration with the Bozeman Symphony, Fall and Spring Mixed Repertory programs and full-length classical works, performances at Sweet Pea Festival of the Arts, and tours to rural Montana.

MBC has enriched the training of our dancers and audiences through collaborations with organizations such as New York City Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet, and with artists such as Grammy-winning saxophonist Ryan Montana and American composer and conductor Eric Funk, among many others.

Bozeman Symphony

The Bozeman Symphony presents a repertoire of symphonic and choral music performed for the benefit of individuals, students, and musicians residing in south-central Montana since 1968. Under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Matthew Savery, the Bozeman Symphony has experienced tremendous growth over the last twenty years. In addition to a wide variety of orchestral programming, the Bozeman Symphony supports Far Afield, a highly accessible community outreach program, donates thousands of dollars’ worth of tickets to local nonprofits, awards scholarships to promising young musicians, and provides employment and engagement opportunities for over 300 people. The Bozeman Symphony and Symphonic Choir have established themselves as significant cultural icons in Montana, whose history is marked by artistic excellence. Its future is dependent upon maintaining a skilled and motivated orchestra whose members bring symphonic music to life.

The Symphony’s mission is dedicated to preserving musical excellence as a living part of our community, now and for future generations, through live performance, education and community partnerships, while maintaining a vigilant devotion to artistic and fiscal integrity.

Montana Chamber Music Society

Montana Chamber Music Society (MCMS) provides educational services to the Bozeman and southwest Montana region through public access to high quality chamber music and the musicians who perform it.  Quarterly programming features Boston’s Muir Quartet, additional world-class artists, as well as emerging classical musicians.
As part of the educational mission, MCMS also holds Noon Notes, a highly successful program at the Bozeman Public Library, and provides the public an engaging experience with chamber music in an inviting setting.  The Noon Notes program entails six one-hour professional performances on the first Mondays of October, November, December, February, March, and April.  These performances are free and open to the public and invited home-school and Bozeman Public Schools third grade classes—with 60 seats reserved for each school attending on a rotating basis.

Intermountain Opera

Every year since 1979, Intermountain Opera Bozeman (IOB) has provided outstanding fully-staged opera productions reaching thousands of Montanans and visitors from around the nation. Opera has something for everyone, combining multiple artistic disciplines: music, visual art, drama, comedy, language arts, history and storytelling. IOB successfully weaves these together with a unique blending of nationally recognized guest artists from the opera world (conductor, director and lead roles) with the finest regional talent in the orchestra and chorus. This, added to an exceptional production team and army of volunteers, results in opera performances that rival productions of much larger opera companies in metropolitan areas.
IOB also provides free outreach activities, sharing the expertise of local and guest artists with students and the community through workshops, in-class visits, master classes, open working rehearsals and fieldtrips.
